A: The SDK is a collection of libraries and tools to develop, run and deploy an application on JOURN.E TOUCH. It provides libraries to control the software keyboard, network, battery, multimedia files, graphic elements, localization… along with documentation and tutorials on how to use them.
Q: Which languages can I use to develop on JOURN.E TOUCH?
A: The SDK is built to be used with Microsoft .NET Compact Framework 3.5; every application built over CF 3.5 can be easily ported on the device.
Q: Do I have to pay to make applications?
A: No. You can download the SDK and start developing your application simply by registering on the website.
Q: Can I distribuite my application?
A: Yes. You can distribuite it on your own, so other users can donwload and install it. Otherwise, you can submit your application for download in Toshiba Virtual Store.
Q: How can I develop and test my application?
A: You can develop it using Microsoft Visual Studio and test it in an emulater, all on your PC. All detailed info is provided in the reserved area of the website.
Q: How can I run and deploy my application on a JOURN.E TOUCH?
A: You can easily run and deploy your application with a tool provided by the SDK. All other users can install your application by downloading it from the Toshiba Virtual Store or simply with an SD card.
Q: What kind of a development environment do I need for creating an application?
A: The best way to develop, debug and deploy an application with .Net Compact Framework is using Microsoft Visual Studio. Actually, these environment are reccomended: - Visual Studio 2008 with latest Service Pack and updates; note that Visual Studio 2005 can be used as well. - Compact Framework 3.5 with latest Service Pack; note that .Net CF 2.0 can be used as well. - Install Windows Mobile 6 Professional SDK

Q: I got issues using JOURN.E TOUCH's YouTube application. How can I solve them?
A: Unfortunately, YouTube changed its software architecture. JOURN.E TOUCH application uses the old one. We're investigating the problem and, as soon as we can, we supply you an application update that will solve the trouble.
Q: I forget my Toshiba Virtual Store account. How can I recover it?
A: You can recover your Toshiba Virtual Store account details by making a private request to administrator from support forum on this site.
In your request, you need to provide your user identifier for your account. You can find it in the Toshiba Virtual Store login dialog.
Toshiba customer support will reply your request privatly in the same forum thread, supplying you your account information.
Q: How can I update the firmware for my JOURN.E TOUCH?
A: For firmware update, follow these steps:
- Download the latest firmware versione for your JOURN.E TOUCH
- Download and install SD Card Checker. You can find this tool under Downloads/Tools section of JOURN.E TOUCH's Toshiba Virtual Store. This tool helps you to check and format your SD card in order to make it “JOURN.E TOUCH ready.“
- Run the SD Card check application with a SD card inserted into JOURN.E TOUCH slot. Press the start button and wait for your card to be checked.
- When check has finished, exit check application and copy the downloaded firmware into your SD card (you can do it from your PC).
- Insert your SD into JOURN.E TOUCH slot and reset your device.
- While booting, your device will be updated (you can see it because “Updating...“ label appears in the boot screen).
- Wait for your device updating and remove SD card when finished.
